The Pamlico County Hurricanes will venture away from home to take on the New Bern Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pamlico County will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Pamlico County's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Southside as they made off with a 19-0 victory. Considering the Hurricanes have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Peyton Robinson and Hailey Shamblin did most of the damage at the plate: Robinson went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two triples, while Shamblin scored four runs and stole two bases while going 5-for-5. Those five hits gave Shamblin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor McHenry, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Pamlico County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for New Bern's offense. They fell 3-0 to D.H. Conley on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.
Pamlico County pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for New Bern, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-2.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pamlico County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .410. However, it's not like New Bern struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pamlico County was able to grind out a solid win over New Bern in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, winning 5-2. Will the Hurricanes repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
