Basketball Game Preview: Utopia Buffaloes vs. Leakey Eagles

The Utopia Buffaloes are taking a road trip to take on the Leakey Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Utopia has seven straight wins, Leakey has 35 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Utopia will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Rocksprings, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Utopia was the clear victor by a 79-59 margin over Rocksprings on Friday. The Buffaloes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Leakey played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against D'Hanis, falling 66-23. The Eagles were down 46-18 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Utopia's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points over those games. As for Leakey, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-22.

Everything came up roses for Utopia against Leakey in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured an 81-30 win. In that matchup, Utopia amassed a halftime lead of 35-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
