Basketball Recap: Tyler Venable's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Black Hills over Rainier

Black Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 58-46 to the Rainier Mountaineers. While the Wolves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mountaineers 16-6 in the first quarter.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Venable, who posted 13 points and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Natalie Buchanan, who put up nine points and six rebounds.

Black Hills suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 5-3. As for Rainier, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

When Black Hills and Rainier next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Black Hills will try to stop Shelton's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Black Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season. Similarly, Rainier will try to stop Adna's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
