Basketball Game Preview: Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers vs. Gatewood Gators

The Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers are taking a road trip to take on the Gatewood Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gatewood took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mount de Sales Academy, who comes in off a win.

While Mount de Sales Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Strong Rock Christian by a score of 53-41 last Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.

Meanwhile, Gatewood played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 69-39 loss at the hands of Athens Academy. The contest marked the Gators' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Mount de Sales Academy will have to keep a close watch on Matt Allen and Landon Moreno, a pair of players who had a big impact on Gatewood's prior game. Allen posted 18 points and five rebounds, while Moreno earned nine points and six rebounds. Allen has been hot for a while, having posted 18 or more points the last 37 times he's played.

Gatewood's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.

Mount de Sales Academy couldn't quite finish off Gatewood in their previous meeting on December 10th and fell 79-76. Can Mount de Sales Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
