Softball Recap: Stanwood Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Stanwood hadn't done well against Lake Stevens recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Spartans came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 8-5. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Vikings back in March, they had to take a 4-3 loss.

The team relied heavily on Rubi Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Olivia Dahl, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Stanwood's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Stevens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stanwood will square off against Ballard at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Beavers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lake Stevens, they will host Cascade at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
