Softball Recap: Tucker County Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Tucker County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Tygarts Valley Bulldogs 8-7. The Mountain Lions haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Peyton Hicks was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Loucks, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Becca Pase was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Tucker County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Tygarts Valley, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tucker County will host Southern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Tygarts Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Philip Barbour at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
