Baseball Recap: Greely Wins Going Away Against Freeport

Greely won the last time they faced Freeport and things went their way on Friday too. The Rangers were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Falcons. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

Greely got a massive performance out of Wes Piper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Piper continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Owen Piesik also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Greely was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April.

The victory made it two in a row for Greely and bumps their season record up to 11-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-6 Freeport and 2-9 Yarmouth. As for Freeport, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greely will host Wells at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.25 runs per game on average), something the Rangers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Freeport, they will welcome Yarmouth at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
