Basketball Game Preview: Marengo Panthers vs. Shields Panthers

The Marengo Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Shields Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Marengo is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Marengo challenged Choctaw County on Tuesday. Everything went Marengo's way against Choctaw County as Marengo made off with a 52-28 win. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Shields hadn't done well against Wilcox Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way back in December of 2024. Shields secured a 55-51 W over Wilcox Central.

Marengo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Shields, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Marengo suffered a grim 75-55 defeat to Shields in their previous matchup back in February of 2017. Can Marengo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
