While Palm Bay's victory against Space Coast wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Palm Bay Pirates came out on top in a nail-biter against the Space Coast Vipers on Thursday, sneaking past 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Vipers: they've now won five in a row.

Keiran Cummings made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Cummings was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other pitching news, Hunter Ashbaugh looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Nolan Werle, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Owens, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Palm Bay now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Space Coast, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Coming up, Palm Bay will challenge Calvary Chapel Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Calvary Chapel Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.64 runs per game on average), something Palm Bay will no doubt try to take advantage of. Space Coast will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Astronaut at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th.
