Softball Recap: Lexington Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

Lexington came out on top against Clear Fork on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Minutemen walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Colts. The win continues a trend for the Minutemen in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won four in a row.

Makaree Chapman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Addy Williams was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

Lexington's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Clear Fork, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Coming up, Lexington will face off against River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Minutemen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Clear Fork, they will challenge Madison Comprehensive at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Colts will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
