Football Recap: Aubrey Rogers Comes Up Short

Aubrey Rogers played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Estero Wildcats, falling 56-10. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-10.

Despite the defeat, Aubrey Rogers saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hudson King rushed for 122 yards. King's longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards.

Maddox Stewart was nothing short of spectacular for Estero: he threw for 332 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 56 yards and one score. Those 56 rushing yards gave Stewart a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathan Watters, who gained 89 total yards and three touchdowns.

Aubrey Rogers' loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Estero, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aubrey Rogers will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Palmetto Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for Estero, they will take on East Lee County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
