Softball Recap: Orange's Win Ends Eight-Game Losing Streak at Home

While Orange's victory against La Quinta wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Aztecs 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-11 back in March.

Scarlett Poitra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on LeAnn Velasquez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anabelle Alvarado, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Orange's victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9. As for La Quinta, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Orange will be playing at home against Santa Ana Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for La Quinta, they are taking a road trip to challenge Estancia at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Aztecs are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
