Recap: Spring Hill Raiders vs. Summertown Eagles
After flying high against the Giles County Bobcats on Thursday, the Spring Hill Raiders came back down to earth. The New Year welcomed Spring Hill with a 61-26 whooping from Summertown on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Spring Hill in their matchups with Summertown: they've now lost eight in a row.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Meme Goodman, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Goodman hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayzia Harrison, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Summertown got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alivia Riggs out in front who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Karlie Campbell, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Spring Hill now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Summertown, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Hill will face off against Warren County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warren County is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. As for Summertown, they will head out on the road to face off against Wayne County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Wayne County is ranked 14th, while Summertown is ranked 19th).
