Softball Recap: Morgan Has No Trouble Against West

Morgan never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the West Panthers. Considering the Trojans have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lexi Hardman and Joesi Kelly did most of the damage at the plate: Hardman went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Kelly went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Hardman is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiernee Carter, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Morgan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in ten consecutive matches.

Morgan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for West, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morgan will host Ben Lomond at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans are facing the Scots at the right time seeing as the Scots are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for West, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Skyline at 2:30 p.m. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.31 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
