Basketball Game Preview: SkyView Academy Hawks vs. Colorado Springs Christian Lions

The SkyView Academy Hawks and the Colorado Springs Christian Lions will compete for holiday cheer at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.

SkyView Academy is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Platte Valley on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Hawks were beaten by the Broncos 53-17. The Hawks were down 44-15 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Evelyn Gilbert, who posted four points along with 11 boards and four steals. Gilbert is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Colorado Springs Christian's game on Saturday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 43-36 victory over Centauri.

Colorado Springs Christian pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points on average over those games. As for SkyView Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

SkyView Academy took a serious blow against Colorado Springs Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 57-10. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
