Basketball Game Preview: St. John Paul II Panthers vs. Franklin County Seahawks

The St. John Paul II Panthers will face off against the Franklin County Seahawks at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Monday, St. John Paul II ended up a good deal behind Brookwood and lost 38-20. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Despite the defeat, St. John Paul II had strong showings from Reese Hutto, who posted eight points and four steals, and Aliyah Medrano, who earned seven points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. Medrano is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Franklin County had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past Vernon with points to spare last Thursday, taking the game 36-19. The Seahawks haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

St. John Paul II now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Franklin County, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

St. John Paul II couldn't quite finish off Franklin County in their previous meeting back in January and fell 31-29. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
