Softball Recap: Eustace's Win Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grand Saline, Eustace was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Winona Wildcats a 15-0 shutout. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Madilyn Andrews was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she gave up only two walks, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Eustace got a massive performance out of Landrie Baker, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave Baker a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Lexi Thompson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Eustace kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Eustace's win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Winona, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Edgewood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Eustace's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Winona, they will challenge Quitman at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Quitman has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.36 runs per game on average), something Winona will no doubt try to take advantage of.
