Volleyball Recap: West Liberty-Salem Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

West Liberty-Salem took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Madison Plains, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Golden Eagles on Tuesday. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 victory the Golden Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (107-99) West Liberty-Salem actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-20, 26-24, 12-25, 15-13.

Naomi Cole paced West Liberty-Salem's offense, picking up 14 kills. Cole were helped by Sophia Landon and Lyndee Harrison, who contributed 17 assists each. Kiersten Stoll controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

West Liberty-Salem pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Madison Plains, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-2.

West Liberty-Salem and Madison Plains should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Tigers will challenge Graham Local at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (162 vs. 688). Meanwhile, Madison Plains (ranked 80th) will meet Greenon (ranked 367th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
