Basketball Game Preview: Dunellen Destroyers vs. Highland Park Owls

Dunellen has gone 8-2 against Highland Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Dunellen Destroyers will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Highland Park Owls at 3:00 p.m. Highland Park took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Dunellen, who comes in off a win.

Dunellen is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Henry Hudson. Dunellen strolled past Henry Hudson with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 44-30.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dunellen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Jimenez, who posted 15 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Jimenez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Fabiana Ames Castillo, who had 12 points.

Meanwhile, Highland Park was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Wednesday as they fell 55-51 to Carteret.

Dunellen won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, slipping by Highland Park 48-47. Does Dunellen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Highland Park turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
