Volleyball Preview: West Geauga Wolverines vs. Hawken Hawks
The West Geauga Wolverines will head out to take on the Hawken Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Tuesday, West Geauga didn't have quite enough to beat Chagrin Falls and fell 3-2.
West Geauga actually scored more points across those five sets (100-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-17, 20-25, 14-25, 15-12.
Despite the defeat, West Geauga had strong showings from Shaylynn Rogaski, who had 21 digs and two aces, and Olivia Penzenik, who had ten digs and seven aces. The dominant performance gave Penzenik a new career-high in aces.
Even though they lost, West Geauga was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Hawken entered their tilt with Harvey on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Red Raiders.
After all that action, the final score was 25-10, 25-14, 25-22.
West Geauga dropped their record down to 5-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Hawken, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
