Baseball Recap: Perrin-Whitt Extends Winning Streak to Three

Perrin-Whitt lost to Bryson two weeks ago, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Pirates won by a run and slipped past the Cowboys 12-11. The win was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on three straight.

Aidan Gill looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Perrin-Whitt is 3-1 when Gill allows one or fewer hits, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cole Keeney, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Perrin-Whitt: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. Riley Sims was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Perrin-Whitt now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Bryson, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perrin-Whitt will square off against Poolville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Monarchs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bryson, they will face off against Bellevue at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
