Basketball Recap: Zara Harveth Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Barnesville

Bellaire won the last time they faced Barnesville and things went their way on Monday too. The Bellaire Big Reds managed a 44-38 victory over the Barnesville Shamrocks. Given the Big Reds' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Shamrocks are ranked 440th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bellaire's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zara Harveth, who went 9 for 15 en route to 22 points along with six boards and three steals. Harveth has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Eliana Mason, who posted 12 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Barnesville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lydia Welch, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards, and Madelynn Tyson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Bellaire's record now sits at 15-3. As for Barnesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Bellaire didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-30 win against Weir on the 28th. Barnesville has also already played their next matchup (against St. Clairsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
