Preview: Cherokee Indians vs. Brookesmith Mustangs
Cherokee has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Brookesmith Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Back in December of 2023, Cherokee strolled past Bangs with points to spare, taking the game 38-24.
Meanwhile, Brookesmith scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Lohn for the full four quarters, racking up a 87-24 victory on the road. Brookesmith has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 25 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brookesmith to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jase Moreno, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Trey Toft, who scored 17 points.
Cherokee's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Brookesmith, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Cherokee came up short against Brookesmith in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 42-33. Can Cherokee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
