Preview: Brashear Tigers vs. Green City Gophers
Brashear has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Green City Gophers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Green City took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Brashear, who comes in off a win.
On January 2nd, Brashear greeted the New Year with with a 68-54 win over Marion County.
Meanwhile, Green City unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Salisbury on the road and fell 62-35. Green City has struggled against Salisbury recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Green City's loss came about despite a quality game from Asher Buggs-Tipton, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Buggs-Tipton is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 12 games he's played. Kaden Hatcher was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Green City struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Brashear's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Green City, their loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.
Brashear was taken down by Green City 80-46 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Brashear avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
