Soccer Recap: Newfane Starts off Right with Win over Maryvale

Newfane had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Maryvale Flyers. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Newfane were the better team in the second half.

Maryvale's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Newfane will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Akron at 5:00 p.m. on the 16th. This will be Newfane's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Maryvale, they have already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Royalton-Hartland on the 8th.
