Baseball Game Preview: Woodstock Academy Centaurs vs. Waterford Lancers

The Woodstock Academy Centaurs will head out to take on the Waterford Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodstock Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Woodstock Academy had taken Norwich Free Academy down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. The Centaurs fell 5-2 to the Wildcats.

Woodstock Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camden Nason, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That hit was Nason's first of the season. Hayden Maloney was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Waterford got themselves on the board against East Lyme on Saturday, but East Lyme never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Vikings. The game was the first time the Lancers have beaten the Vikings on their field since May 10, 2022.

The victory made it two in a row for Waterford and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Woodstock Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Woodstock Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Waterford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 5-1. Will the Centaurs repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
