Basketball Recap: Wahpeton Takes a Loss

Wahpeton lost against Kindred back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wahpeton Huskies took a hard 71-57 fall against the Kindred Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Vikings are ranked tenth).

Despite the loss, Wahpeton still got an impressive performance from Scout Woods, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds. Woods is becoming a predictor of Wahpeton's success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 6-3 (and 3-9 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Miller, who posted 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Wahpeton and nudges their season record down to 9-12. As for Kindred, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Wahpeton will face off against Oak Grove Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kindred, they will challenge Lisbon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Kindred's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Lisbon has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road.
