Volleyball Game Preview: The Covenant School Eagles vs. Saint Gertrude Gators

The Covenant School is 0-3 against Saint Gertrude since September of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Gators at 5:45 p.m. The Covenant School is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.

It was a Battle of the Birds when The Covenant School took on Highland on Tuesday. The Eagles blew past the Hawks 3-0.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant The Covenant School was: they took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-6.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Saint Gertrude and St. Anne's-Belfield had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Gators were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Saints on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won three in a row.

Saint Gertrude was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-23, 25-22.

Saint Gertrude's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for The Covenant School, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.

The Covenant School might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Saint Gertrude when the teams last played back in September of 2016. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
