Baseball Game Preview: Lake Norman Wildcats vs. Davie War Eagles

The Lake Norman Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Davie War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Norman's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Davie's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lake Norman's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when East Rowan hitters got past them. Lake Norman came up short against East Rowan on Wednesday, falling 13-6. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Andres Acurero was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Mavroudis, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Davie had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They won by a run and slipped past Lake Norman 6-5.

Coy James was incredible, firing off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-3. Logan Allen also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Davie lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Davie picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Lake Norman, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

Lake Norman's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. Lake Norman has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Davie, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lake Norman continue to outrun the ball?
