Softball Recap: Branham Takes a Loss

After flying high against Leigh on Thursday, Branham came back down to earth. The Bruins fell just short of the King's Academy Knights by a score of 9-7 on Friday. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Jacque Connolly - Hojas put in work no matter where she played. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kaitlyn Douglas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Branham's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for King's Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7.

Coming up, Branham will square off against Westmont at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for King's Academy, they will take on San Mateo at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bearcats have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
