Football Game Preview: Southwest Patriots vs. Academy for Classical Education Gryphons + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Southwest Patriots and the Academy for Classical Education Gryphons will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Southwest's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against East Laurens last Friday. They received a blow as they fell 14-0 to the Falcons. The game marked the first time this year in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.

Even if they lost, Southwest's defense still kept up the pressure with 3.5 sacks. Leading the way was Rinaldo Callaway with two.

Meanwhile, Academy for Classical Education was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to Dublin at home by a 42-27 margin.

Southwest will have to contain Ace Hatcher as he made an impact in Academy for Classical Education's last game. He rushed for 82 yards and two scores, and also threw for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Southwest's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Academy for Classical Education, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Southwest suffered a grim 40-14 defeat to Academy for Classical Education in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hatcher, who rushed for 84 yards and four TDs, and also threw for 119 yards while completing 85.7% of his passes.
