Baseball Game Preview: Marion Wildcats vs. Sikeston Bulldogs

The Marion Wildcats will face off against the Sikeston Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Marion comes in on eight and Sikeston on three.

Marion is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Cahokia with a sharp 25-4 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

While Sikeston didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Dexter 10-1 on Monday. That looming 10-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

Marion's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sikeston, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Marion took their victory against Sikeston in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
