Basketball Game Preview: Frisco Raccoons vs. Emerson Mavericks

The Frisco Raccoons will face off against the Emerson Mavericks at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Frisco is looking for their season's first win.

Frisco came up short against Liberty on Tuesday, falling 40-15. While losing is never fun, the Raccoons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 982nd, while the Redhawks are ranked 259th).

Meanwhile, Emerson fought the good fight in their overtime game against Heritage on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 53-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coyotes. The Mavericks have struggled against the Coyotes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Emerson's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Frisco, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.

Frisco was able to grind out a solid victory over Emerson in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 45-34. Does Frisco have another victory up their sleeve, or will Emerson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
