Baseball Recap: Hamilton Has No Trouble Against Bruceville-Eddy

Hamilton was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bruceville-Eddy on Tuesday. The Hamilton Bulldogs were the clear victor by a 13-7 margin over the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles. Considering the Bulldogs have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bret Bauman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hamilton is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Bauman was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kizer DeLord, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zeb Murphree, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Hamilton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bruceville-Eddy only posted an OBP of .316.

The win got Hamilton back to even at 6-6. As for Bruceville-Eddy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Hamilton will have a chance to go back-to-back against Bruceville-Eddy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
