Basketball Game Preview: Collinsville Pirates vs. Muenster Hornets

Collinsville is 1-9 against Muenster since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Collinsville Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Muenster Hornets at 6:30 p.m. Collinsville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Muenster likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Collinsville took their game with ease, bagging an 80-40 victory over Chico. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Muenster fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Era on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 42-40. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Muenster came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Era is ranked 813th).

Collinsville is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.3 points. As for Muenster, they moved to 25-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Collinsville didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Muenster in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 48-43 win. Will Collinsville repeat their success, or does Muenster have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
