Basketball Game Preview: Southwind Jaguars vs. Fayette Ware Wildcats

Two dominant guards in Ronald Towns and Kylon Terry are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Southwind Jaguars will get right back to it and host the Fayette Ware Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fayette Ware will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Southwind extended their winning streak to six on Thursday. The Jaguars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Center Hill 68-32.

Southwind had a senior duo take command as Jhordan Chaffin posted 13 points and Monterrio Cox shot 63% from the field en route to 10 points. Austen Price was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Fayette Ware over Wooddale in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Wildcats blew the Cardinals out of the water with an 84-22 final score. With the Wildcats ahead 47-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Fayette Ware found their leader in sophomore Cash Williams, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 21 points. With that strong performance, Williams is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was JaCorey Stanley, who shot 58% from the field on his way to 18 points.

Fayette Ware smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Fayette Ware's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Southwind, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Southwind was able to grind out a solid win over Fayette Ware when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 70-63. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
