Softball Recap: Millbury Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Millbury waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Grafton Gators a 12-0 shutout. The matchup marked the Woolies' most dominant victory of the season.

Brielle Brothers made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Millbury let Gianna Cappoli and Adeline Canney run wild. Cappoli went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI, while Canney went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Canney has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara Canney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Millbury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Millbury's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Grafton, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Millbury will take on Notre Dame Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Grafton, they will head out to challenge Ashland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
