Basketball Recap: LaPoynor Takes a Loss

LaPoynor has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cayuga Wildcats. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Flyers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while the Wildcats are ranked 975th).

LaPoynor's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Cayuga, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Alba-Golden the next time they take the court. Cayuga will host Alba-Golden at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while LaPoynor will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th.
