Volleyball Recap: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Extends Winning Streak to Five

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Edinburg Bobcats by a score of 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Bobcats back in September, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

While Pharr-San Juan-Alamo might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Edinburg scored at least 20 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-20, 16-25, 25-22.

Edinburg's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ellie Garza, who had 14 digs and two aces, and Ayla Rangel, who had 20 digs and five assists. Garza has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 11 times she's played.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's victory bumped their record up to 25-9. As for Edinburg, their defeat ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 26-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will square off against rival Economedes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Edinburg is set to challenge their familiar foe La Joya at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
