Softball Recap: Lucas Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Loudonville, Lucas was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the New London Wildcats 8-6. This was payback for the Cubs, who suffered a 16-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Charlize Stinehour made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Stinehour was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Brown, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chelsea Sweet, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Lucas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New London only posted an OBP of .324.

Lucas' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for New London, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Lucas has already played their next contest, a 15-14 victory against Buckeye Central on the 10th. As for New London, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Plymouth at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Big Red have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
