Horizon waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Evans Trojans a 16-0 shutout. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Morgyn Welch and Addison Lamb were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Welch struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Lamb pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Welch went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Lamb scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. What's more, Lamb posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Grafton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
