Recap: Lakeside Panthers vs. South Effingham Mustangs
A well-balanced attack led the Lakeside Panthers over the South Effingham Mustangs in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lakeside blew South Effingham out of the water with a 73-40 final score. That looming 73-40 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lakeside yet this season.
Lakeside was led to victory by Ty Jones and Bryce Reynierson. Jones scored 16 points along with three steals, while Reynierson scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Reynierson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mike Mills, who scored 12 points.
South Effingham's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corbin McGuire, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Harris, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Lakeside's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for South Effingham, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-18.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeside won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Evans at 3:30 p.m. on January 27th. As for South Effingham, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glynn Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Glynn Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 779 points over their last 12 contests.
