Basketball Recap: Caitlyn Mccoy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leavitt over Mount View

If Leavitt was feeling good fresh off their 65-26 takedown of Waterville last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Leavitt Hornets came up short against the Mount View Mustangs on Friday, falling 57-36. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caitlyn Mccoy, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds. Brooke Boutaugh was another key player, putting up six points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Leavitt's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Mount View, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Leavitt has already played their next game, a 59-34 defeat against Spruce Mountain on the 20th. As for Mount View, they will take on Waterville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mount View has eight straight victories, Waterville has 13 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
