Tate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. Their rough 12-2 defeat to the Providence School Stallions might stick with them for a while.
Bray Touchstone made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
On Providence School's side, Nick Oliveira made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (he also only allowed one walk). Oliveira was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
In other pitching news, Ryan Walls looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, Providence School got a massive performance out of Andrew Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple. Another player making a difference was Mason Wortmann, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Tate now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Providence School, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
Tate will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Navarre at 7:00 p.m. As for Providence School, they will head out on the road to take on Bolles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
