Baseball Game Preview: Golder Panthers vs. Rauner Wildcats

Golder hasn't had much luck against Rauner recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Golder will be strutting in after a win while Rauner will be coming in after a defeat.

Golder took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over Mansueto. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Yadier Kelly was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Drysch, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Rauner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park.

Lucas Ghanimah made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 12 games he's played.

Golder picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Rauner, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Golder has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 12.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rauner struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Golder suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Rauner in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
