Baseball Recap: Pike Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Central, Pike was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Daleville Broncos by a score of 5-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Red Devils as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lincoln Sigmund was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Pike: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Sigmund was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rory Weaver, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Joe Williams also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Pike always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Pike now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Daleville, they dropped their record down to 6-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Pike will square off against Greenwood Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Daleville, they will take on Hamilton Heights at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
