Coweta suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 35-28 loss to East Central. The Tigers had been ranked 24th, but fell to 26 following the defeat.
The Cardinals extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 4 this week by beating Coweta, 35-28. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
DeAngelo Brewer and DeAngelo Brewer gave Central a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Brewer threw for 105 yards and one touchdown, while Brewer ran for 210 yards.
Caleb Webster was the best wideout in the league this week as Claremore topped Tahlequah. Webster racked up four receptions for 61 yards. James Chester helped Claremore's passing attack out by catching two balls for 13 yards.
Dustin Basks made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Zebras beat the Tigers. The 5-foot-7 sophomore pulled down three interceptions.
6-foot-0 quarterback Keegan Yates of Pryor is the league leader in passing yards this season with 597. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, the Braves' Brewer has rushed for 695 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Webster. The Claremore star has 22 catches for 357 yards.
The marquee game in 5A District 4 this week will be the clash between Bobby Klinck's team and Claremore. The Cardinals enters the contest ranked fourth in the state, while Rob Gilbreath's team ranks 21st.
Collinsville made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,549 from 2,913. The improvement was the result of 13-0 victory over Grove last week.
