Volleyball Recap: Chautauqua Lake Falls Short Against Ranked Portville

Chautauqua Lake faced Portville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since September 17, 2024.

While Chautauqua Lake ultimately came up short, they really made Portville work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-11, 25-18.

Chautauqua Lake's offense was headlined by Nolianna Paddock and Kinslee Motter, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Karagan Fairbank and her 22 assists.

Mia Rhinehart was the offensive standout of the game as she had 13 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Chautauqua Lake's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-4-1. As for Portville, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Chautauqua Lake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Fredonia on the 9th. As for Portville, they will take on Southwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
