Preview: Cocoa Beach Minutemen vs. Space Coast Vipers
Cocoa Beach and Space Coast are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. After both having extra time off, the pair will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Cocoa Beach will be strutting in after a win while Space Coast will be coming in after a loss.
Cocoa Beach has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season. They really took it to Pineapple Cove Classical Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-33 win at home. The team accrued 60 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.
Jay Matthews was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Cocoa Beach's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Stevens, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Space Coast was the victim of a rough 61-39 loss at the hands of Freedom last Thursday. Space Coast has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cocoa Beach's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Space Coast, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
