Basketball Recap: Austwell-Tivoli Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Austwell-Tivoli and Richards squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Austwell-Tivoli had to settle for second. They fell to the Richards Panthers 55-51. The Redfish just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Despite the defeat, Austwell-Tivoli saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mackenzi Cortez posted 47 points and five steals. That was a full 92.2% of Austwell-Tivoli's points, marking the 13th time in a row Cortez has put up more than a third of the team's points.

Austwell-Tivoli's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Richards, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Austwell-Tivoli does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Richards, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-37 defeat against Medina on the 14th.
